Hamsters can eat chicken, but there are strict guidelines to follow:

I. Feeding Conditions
Must be fully cooked: Raw chicken may carry harmful bacteria like Salmonella, which can cause diarrhea or intestinal infections in hamsters. It must be thoroughly boiled in plain water with no seasonings (salt, oil, etc.).
Choose the right cut: Opt for low-fat chicken breast. Avoid high-fat parts (such as chicken skin) or processed chicken products.
II. Feeding Methods and Frequency
Portion control: Each serving should not exceed 5% of the hamster’s body weight—roughly the size of a fingernail (0.5–1 gram). Adult hamsters can have chicken at most 1–2 times per week.
Preparation: Let cooked chicken cool completely, then chop it into pieces the size of soybeans. Remove any uneaten portions promptly to prevent spoilage.
III. Suitable Scenarios and Prohibitions
Special situations: Young hamsters, pregnant hamsters, or those in poor health can have chicken slightly more often to supplement protein.
Foods to avoid: Never feed raw meat, seasoned meat, high-fat meats (like pork), or processed meat products.
IV. Health Monitoring
After the first feeding, observe your hamster for 24 hours. If it develops soft stools, refuses food, or shows other abnormalities, stop feeding chicken immediately and consult a vet. Remember, daily diets should still consist mainly of mixed grains, with meat only as an occasional supplement.
