The survival time of hamsters without drinking water is closely related to the ways of replenishing water. It can be specifically divided into the following two situations:

I. Without Any Water or Food Supply at All
Survival Time: Hamsters will die of dehydration in about 2 days.
Reason: Hamsters have an extremely fast metabolic rate, and the water in their bodies will be quickly consumed.
II. Indirect Water Replenishment through Food (such as Vegetables and Fruits)
Survival Time: Usually, they can survive for 3 to 7 days.
Mechanism: The water in vegetables and fruits can partially meet their water needs, but it cannot completely replace drinking water.
Matters Needing Attention
The Necessity of Drinking Water: Even if hamsters eat water-containing foods, it is still necessary to provide clean drinking water (cooled boiled water is recommended) every day to ensure their health.
Differences in Water Intake: Baby hamsters may drink less water because they don't know how to use the water dispenser, so it is necessary to observe and guide them.
Water Source Replacement: The drinking water needs to be replaced every day to avoid diseases caused by contamination.
Long-term lack of water can lead to organ failure or metabolic disorders in hamsters. Breeders should ensure that they can access fresh water sources at any time.
